Exciting Kids' Zone
“The Al Waha hotel boasts an excellent kids' club that's perfect for young children. My kids loved the variety of toys and the dedicated staff who kept them entertained, allowing me and my partner some time to relax. The large kids' pool with slides and the lazy river were particularly hit, keeping them occupied for hours!” view full review
Very nice Dining Options
“Dining at the Al Waha was a treat! We enjoyed a variety of themed buffet dinners, with everything from delicious Mediterranean dishes to mouthwatering local cuisine. One night, the buffet was so vast that I couldn't even try everything. We also loved that the chefs were accommodating with children's preferences, ensuring my picky eaters were well-fed!” view full review

I had a wonderful time at Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort And Spa Al Waha, with beautiful surroundings and plenty of options for families. However, some areas felt a bit dated and overcrowded, which impacted the overall experience. While the food was enjoyable, the service left something to be desired at times.

The interconnecting family rooms were great, but I had to wait two hours for them despite arriving early. They felt average for what I paid, particularly with some cleanliness issues.

Most staff were warm and helpful, but I did encounter rude service at the towel station that was disappointing. Some restaurant experiences were slow and confusing with orders.

The beautiful location with surrounding mountains and a lovely beach is perfect for relaxation, albeit a bit isolated from city activities.
Dining

The dining options were good, with a nice variety at the buffet; however, I found the prices steep for the quality offered.
Facilities

While there was an array of facilities, the pool area felt overcrowded and the availability of sunbeds and seating could be improved. The ice cream machine was also disappointing compared to previous visits.

The family-friendly atmosphere was perfect for my travel needs, and I thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful facilities. However, keep in mind that the location is a bit remote, requiring a taxi for city excursions.

My stay at Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort And Spa Al Waha was mixed. While the views and surroundings were beautiful, the resort felt quite isolated, especially at night. The service was friendly, but often slow, which was frustrating at times. Overall, there were positives and negatives, but I expected more from a hotel in this price range.

I had a wonderful time at Shangri La Barr Al Jissah Resort and Spa Al Waha, enjoying its beautiful pools and beach. However, I found my room to be quite basic for the price I paid, which left me feeling a bit underwhelmed. The staff were incredibly attentive, catering to my dietary needs and providing excellent service throughout my stay. Dining options were plentiful, but the prices were higher than I expected. Overall, it's a great resort for a relaxing getaway, though some areas could use improvement.

I enjoyed the beautiful location and the spacious beach, but the service and accommodation felt below the expected five-star standard. My initial experience with room delays and the quality of the food was disappointing. Overall, while the ambiance is relaxing, there are significant areas that need improvement.
Rooms

The room initially provided was dark and quite small, resembling a cheap motel. After a long wait, I received a better room, but it still didn't meet the high standard expected from the Shangri-La brand (felt a bit dated).
Service
5.0
While many staff were friendly and tried to be helpful, there was a lack of professionalism and some seemed inexperienced. My dining experiences varied, with great service from some staff and disappointing service in other areas.
Location

The resort's setting is beautiful, with stunning views of the mountains and a clean beach. However, it's quite far from downtown Muscat and the activities there, which might deter some travelers (still worth the visit!).
Dining

The breakfast buffet had a decent spread, but after a few days, I found the variety quite limited. Room service and some restaurants didn't live up to expectations, with overpriced and low-quality food.
Facilities
7.0
The spa was excellent, and the pool areas, especially the lazy river, provided a lot of entertainment. However, the overall feel of the hotel and some amenities felt a bit tired and in need of updating.
